Painted floorcloths are art for your floor and can be used on any hard surface indoors, such as wood, concrete, cork, vinyl tile or terrazo. ArtistFran's painted canvas rugs bring color and life to a room and can be coordinated to work with your particular interior design style. They not only are beautiful, but they protect your valuable hardwood floors and provide insulation at the same time. Floorcloths can be moved from room to room as you please, they are virtually dirt proof and are easily cleaned with a damp sponge.
Unlike woven rugs, they do not hold dust, animal hair, mold or mildew, which makes them ideal for those with allergies. They are especially useful in high traffic areas, such as entryways, under the dining room table and especially in front of the stove and sink area in kitchens. The addition of a painted floorcloth can change the look of a room instantly, and for a very reasonable price. Compared to woven rugs, which have to be drycleaned, and are subject to stains and grease spots, painted canvas floorcloths are a wise investment.
Fran makes painted canvas floorcloths in the traditional manner, but with a modern twist. They try to combine practicality and high aesthetic values in their pieces. Each rug is completely handmade; and custom work is available upon request. Subjects range from country French inspired designs to equine and fox hunting themes and faux marble finishes. ArtistFran floorcloths believes in offering the widest possible range of motifs and color combinations.
ArtistFran's floorcloths are made of thick cotton canvas coated with two layers of gesso, followed by a coat of exterior latex housepaint, upon which the design is painted in acrylics. Three coats of acrylic sealer are then added, followed by a final finish of paste wax, buffed to a nice soft shine. Two layers of non-skid liquid backing are applied to the reverse side to keep the rugs in place on the floor. These rugs bring color and life to a room, and will last for years.
